# Who Pays Taxes and Duties?

In general, **the recipient or customer is responsible for paying the taxes and duties** associated with their international shipment.

However, **some sellers (sender) may offer shipping options with prepaid taxes and duties**, meaning the customer (recipient) will not have to pay anything extra upon receiving the package.
